Holding My Sorrows

“Endless sorrow has fallen upon my heart.” Olympia Brown

I found this quote while searching for relief from my staggering responsibilities as caretaker for mother and sister. But while words are a comfort—the artist in me demanded bringing emotion to something tactile I could either carry or hang on the wall.

Everyone has sorrow in their lives and struggle with compartmentalizing these strong emotions when dealing life. Filling the backpack with your sorrows allows a safe place to keep them during the day. At night, opening the backpack and pulling out one, instead of all the sorrows (so you can get to sleep) lets you morn over what could/should have been. And then you put the sorrow back, secure and start your day.
